Service light comes on every 5k in miles. I call it the "Oil change light".... That's different fromt the CEL... I would say have it reset if you use a Stealership for oil changes or if you use a independent Volvo shop... Other wise it shuts off after 30 seconds, I believe..

I think you can turn off the service light yourself by moving the key between positions. Search the forums and I'm sure somethings out there.

here you go. here's the sequence for that. The procedure is:

1. Press and hold Trip Odometer reset button
2. Turn ignition key to run position KPII(not the start position)
3. Wait 30 seconds or until service light begins blinking
4. Release Trip Odometer button
5. Turn ignition to off position

That doesn't work on the '98 S70... '98's the "bastard" year that you can't reset yourself, and can't program a key fob yourself, either.

I actually meant... you have to have a special tool to turn it off. They cost about $150 or so, and most will also read ABS codes, too

yes exactly. i did one of those "do it ur self things" but it didnt work, so i went to my mechanic and he told me that i cant do this to 98 models. but i called to a local volvo dealer and they told that they can turn it off for free
