I just ordered a Service Light Reminder Reset Tool for my 1998 Volvo S70 for about $53 (£28.04). The price is dependent on the exchange rate. If anyone is interested here is the tool info: 69007 - DRAPER EXPERT QUALITY SERVIC INDICATOR TOOL - VOLVO. I ordered the tool from Justoffbase Tools UK http://www.justoffbase.co.uk/s.nl/sc....A/id.15747/.f You will need to e-mail them prior to your order if you need shipping to the U.S. They (Tina) will provide you with instructions to e-mail them again once you place the order so that they may amend your order accordingly (charge you the correct shipping rate). They have two shipping choices:

- £9.00 (approx $17) no insurance or guarantee of delivery
- £24.89 (approx $47) by EXPD courier

I chose to be a risk taker and pay the cheaper shipping. I will post again once I receive the tool.

The DRAPER Service Light Reset Tool just arrived today. Perfect timing as I just changed the oil. I followed the instructions and 20 seconds later the light is now reset. The tool also is smaller than I thought it would be. It is about the size of a garage door opener. Now I can use the Service Light Reminder for its intended purpose, instead of cursing Volvo for this type of design when I do my own oil change.

I have a 98 S70 and this doesn't seem to work. Is there something different on the 1998 S70?

What about the 1997 S70 T5, do I also need the service light reset tool to fix it or just use the trip reset method?

P.S. what else can the service light reset tool can do?
Thanks!

No such thing as a 97 S70 (in the U.S. anyway). However, as TECH notes you need the reset tool for a 97 850 as well.

Default 98' S70 sri reset?

Do you have to pay over $100.00 for the tool just to reset the light ??? If so i'll just take it to the Dr. in Huntington Beach again for my next service...

If the service light coming on for about a minute every time you start the car bothers you that much, take the bulb out. That's what I did on my 97 when I had the instrument cluster out to repair the oddometer. Now it will never come on again.

I would not take the dash apart just to remove the bulb either. My light comes on in my 98 and I don't even notice it any more. If I had the dash apart for some other reason I would remove the bulb though like I did on the 97.
