still got a problem with this oil leak...
Dad suspects it's a transmission leak, it's happening in between the engine and the transmission, where do u guys think it can be coming from? and how do i fix this?
if a mechanic/dealer is best choice then anybody know app. cost that they will fix this for?
me and my dad can do it but we aren't too sure where its coming from, can't see it very well.

RE: still got a problem with this oil leak...
Hi Clash0901,
Please note that my reply is based on the 850.
First of all, ensure that the fluid is leaking between the engine & the gearbox. And determine the type of fluid as noted by MyS70GLT.
If it's engine oil, the rear main seal may be shot, in which case the engine & transmission would have to come off the compartment and the labour will be high (several hundred $ as a wild guess), depending on what part of the country you live.
If it's transmission fluid, I am not sure as I never had to separate the engine & transmission.
If the leak is not too bad and if you cannot afford a hefty bill, you can keep topping up whatever the fluid (though the road & your driveway will be contaminated[8D]).
I would have it done either at a dealer or an independent shop that specialises in Swedish/European makes. Should you decide to go to the dealer route, be sure not to get taken, as some dealers have a tendency to sell you unnecessary parts & services, once they figure out you're not privy to cars.
Also, I would double check the location of leak. I can't tell without a photo, but it could turn out a few dollar fix.
Best of luck,
JPN

I would keep an eye on the transmission fluid level, until you can afford to have it inspected/repaired.
See following thread for checking the transmission fluid level.

This is for the 850, but S70 should be the same. Double check on the type of transmission fluid via owner's manual, dealer, etc... If wrong type of fluid is introduced, it'll cause a lot of problems.

Is the back of the head wet from oil?
If cam seal is leaking it can leak down and come through the hole between the engine and transmission. If not and the fluid is engine oil sounds like the rear main seal is leaking.
Has the vent system been serviced lately?
Most oil leaks with the exception of a few start because the vent system gets clogged and excessive pressure builds up in the engine causing the leaks.

The head is the top area of the engine.
Vent system is like the PCV system on american cars and most imports.
Clean the enginei very very well then inspect really good for leaks. Then if you can find them try to take pics and post them and we can tell you what parts are leaking.
