Default Manual

I'm going to replace my timing belt next weekend and am wondering what the best manual is to get?

Timing belts deteriorate due to age as well as mileage.
After 14 years I would definately replace the belt despite being a long way short of 105,000 miles.
Your waterpump, tensioner and seals may be close to becoming problems also simply due to the time factor???

You would rather have a manual than a video? SMH

Hello, I just bought a 98 S70 T5 with 183,000 miles. I have no idea when the timing belt was replaced, so it's the first thing on my list of things to do. I'm going to replace tensioner, pullys, water pump & belt. The question I have for you is. Is there a brand of timing belt that is better then others. Should I go back with OEM or can I try something different.

Thanks

I own a 2001 v70 wagon. 140,000 miles and as far as I know the timing belt has not been replaced. I am moving forward to do this soon however the auto repair place I would normally go to has recommended replacing the water pump at the same time to avoid labor costs in the future. The Volvo dealership I called to ask a quote from said there should never be any issue with the water pump and wouldn't recommend replacing. Not sure who to believe. Please advise.

So when the dealership says there should almost never be an issue with the water pump is that just a standard answer?

You described exactly what has been recommended to be done with my car. I did have some doubt about the water pump being replaced unnecessarily. It's a big ticket for me but I guess I need to bite the bullet.

Junk yard parts. Why would you want the "cheapest" parts to go on the most important part of your motor?

He asked for the "cheapest source" not cheap parts.

In above posts people failed to mention, years and miles matter.
My 04 c70 had 82K, but was over 10 years old, did both belts as soon as I got it home
