Tire Size for 2000 S70GLT ??
With a nice list of new owner issues moving towards completion, New Tires are Next.
Several folks on the Forums swear by Continental DWS (ExtremeContact), but they don't make the DWS in the 195-60R15 that comes with 2000 S70GLT. They do make a few others, such as ContiProContact, and I'm hearing that Hankook Optimos are pretty good....Any comments ?
But I'd really like a more touring comfort ride; I don't drive quite like I used to.
Perhaps a different size is in order; what will fit my OEM 15" wheels ??
Pep Boys' computer says that P205/65R15XL will be fine (at nearly $700 for a full set out the door), but they also say that the XC is just a different Trim Package for the 2000 S70GLT ......??
Hankook Optimo's are about $70 less, installed with alignment.
Mavis Tire tells me to buy 16" wheels, and then get P205-50R16's but I don't want to spend the money on new wheels; a new XeModo Throttle Body is of much higher priority.
Will P205/65R15's fit on standard 15" 2000 S70GLT rims without problems ??

Thanks, rspi.....Original tire size is also in the Owner's Manual and the original window sticker...I had just wondered if XC's were supplied with different wheel offset/widths, and whether this would cause full-lock rubbing....It's funny; at maybe 3/4 lock, the steering wheel puts out like a torque oversteer feeling, like when accelerating out of a parking space....
An "EivlEvo" had posted, "Here's a good size calculator site...205/6015's are great on 240's and 7/9's." May I assume that 7/9's refers to 740/840/940, immediate predecessor to the "S" series ?? Can't assume same wheels OEM-supplied.
I'm hoping that slightly larger, like 205/65R15's might smooth out those roadway paving joints that new shocks didn't take care of, and minimize the torque oversteer thing.
BTW: 2000 S70GLT w/96k: $3900; put new Shocks, Struts, mounts, and spring seats; Timing belt and pulleys; serpentine belt and water pump; brakes, calipers, and hyd. lines. Oil, tranny fluid, brake fluid and coolant flush and replace. New ABM Projector Headlights (matching side marker lights enroute). (Found TYC (OEM) assemblies for $85 apiece, delivered, new, but with the original cross-hatched fresnel-like lens; sending 'em back)
Tires are current project; ReMan XeModex Throttle Body on deck. One radiator support ear is broken; hanging down 5/8", with tranny cooler line only 6" off the ground. Will get the line cleared first; new radiators found $100-250. Any comments on Aftermarket Aeon Imports ?? $100 brand-new radiator ??
Thanks for the help.

Radiator, Tires, Headlights, Throttle Body
Thanks, rspi !! It doan maka no sense to a sava 120 bucks on a radiator just to endanger tranny.
No clearer answers on 205/65-15's fitting OEM 15" wheels other than "Yes". Think I'll just start with a set of Hankook Optima 727's in that size if Pep Boys will let me run her lock-to-lock when she's up on the lift to check clearances. They're over $140 less than Conti ProContacts; I'm planning on running this 12 year old New Beast through at least 3-4 sets of tires.
But that project is next month; still finishing the ABM Projector Headlight/Marker Lights; look great, tricky to aim 'cause of a beam mask for avoiding blinding oncoming drivers, but I haven't figgered out the extra set of wires/connectors comin' out the back of the headlight housing; three vendors asked don't seem to know....
Anyone know how to contact ABM directly ?? May just have to dismount and carefully dissect the whole damn thing myself.
Two "Computer Diagnostic" places have never heard of XeModex; tell me "use Dealer Parts only". $109 and $128 for the Diagnostic alone..."Hey, we work on Volvos all de time."..
Don't think they'll be a gittin' any of my biness. I can probably buy a scanner for that. XeModex website has a decent diagnostic flowchart referencing scan codes.

I just got my 2000 S70 GLT three months ago....the needing-replacement Michelins on her were the standard 195-60R15's, but the ride was pretty rough around NYC even with new shocks and struts.
Paving here leaves almost every person-hole cover with a 1" dip, and poorly backfilled roadway utility cuts are as rampant as the ravelling paving joints.
The Conti DWS Extremes recommended to me on another thread aren't made in that size; but the Conti Grand Touring is. Quoted at $670 installed.
I finally went with Hankook Optimo H724's in P205-65-15's two days ago, size which an rspi said would fit OEM 15" wheels. $535 includes a $95 PepBoys rebate, and alignment. Fills the wheel wells, but no rub noticed at full lock.
Smooths out the bumps nicely, but with quite some loss of precise handling, as expected. Operating range of 31-40psi (44max); they're at 36 psi now; I'm going to kick it up to 38 psi next week to see how much nimbleness is restored.
It hasn't snowed here yet, but in wet they seem decent.
The damn tranny cooler line doesn't have enough clearance for the kind of snow that I like driving in.
