V70 XC Crosscountry aw 2002 - Starting problem
Hi,
this is a thread for my dad. He just bought a used 2002 Volvo V70 XC and it was good for almost 2 months. Then, this weekend, he did a oil change. After that, his car didn't start.
Lights are on, everything is on, the starter turns, but no fire.
It probably doesn't have any link with the oil change but... who knows?
They tried for several minutes to make it worked, whitout success. Couple of hours later, for no particular reason the car started. So he was able to move it, perfectly, out of the garage. Once parked in the garage's yard, he stoped it, and now it didn't start again.
Do you have any clue guys before he gets the car to a volvo's authorised garage ?
Thank you

Hi,
did you stay to the garage while the car was being serviced? Or left the car and come back later? I'm thinking about some mechanic having a joy ride with the car and getting into some issue. Another possibility is a garage that would play with something to create a trouble and suggest repairs afterwards. I know this sounds a bit hypothetical, but some garages can be quite.
If they took good care of the car, what is gas level on the gauge (keep in mind Volvo gauges tend to change abruptly in level). Was there oil spilled over the top of the engine? Have you checked the oil level on the dipstick? Is it at level and clear oil? Have you tried to boost the battery?
It could be also related to a fuel pump relay (main relay), electronic board might have split connections that open when the engine is hot and close when the engine is cold then the engine can start.
If all this doesn't apply I would tow the car to a different independent garage (even a non Volvo specialist). I have read many histories about cars going to Volvo dealers for an issue hard to diagnose and leaving with costly non-related repairs. Several Volvo dealers seem to take advantage in such situations.
