Default Vaccum Leak?

I have what sounds like an air leak coming from my left driver side air vent. Only makes the noise (like air sucking/vaccum leak) when in gear and driving. Sitting in neutral or park does not make the noise, even while revving the engine.

Any ideas?

Doug

Maybe under the dash more?
It is possible that the brake booster is bad.
Does it happen with the A/C on or off?

Could be under the dash, as for ac on or off....OFF. But it is definitely on the left of the driver side, not sure if it is under the dash more since I cannot drive and listen.

I can check the brake booster, but can you give me some description of its location....what it looks like?

Thanks again.

Follow the Brake pedal up and you will see a rod going to the firewall then it goes to under the hood. The rod comes out of the brake booster.

Tech,

Thanks again for the assistance. I have not had much time to diagnose if it was the brake booster but upon further reading it does sound as thought that is the culprit. Do you think he entire unit has to be replaced or could possibly just a booster valve be replaced to fix any leakage? Just a thought to save a couple $$$.

Thanks again.

If it is the brake booster the entire assembly will have to be replaced.
Once it does it while driving when you slow down does it still make the noise. Like when you come to a stop sign?
