Hey tech i check the door jam switch wires all okay not pulling out ? Also on my way to the body shop (wife was sideswiped in mall parking lot left side ) i notice the outside temp inop just show two lines (=) called volvo they said sensor in rear view mirror ? all gm are in front of rad how can it read outside temp inside car ? Thanks for the help Wayne

 

The sensor for the temp is in the mirrors.The sensors were in the front till the S80 then they put them in the mirrors.Did you get the other things working yet?

 

No not yet going to check power and grounds the cars at the body shop in the shop i work at, also the place i get parts from always overcharge you so going to try other place in CT. Do you see a lot of problem with the outside temp sensor? (by the way we have alldata) in are shop limted volvo wiring but the basics thanks for your help p.s do you work in a volvo dealership? I know i could check it out my self just lazy. Any question on gm i could help you thanks again.

 

At the moment I don't work at the dealer.But if the rest of the functions of the door doesn't work yet the temp wont.They all work on the same curcuit.You might also want to check the door jam pins on the driver's door as well.I have seen them out on the drivers side and knock out the pass. side all together like you say is happening.

 

Hey Tech when you say check the wires do you mean do pin drag test also make sure termials are not backing out of connector. Is the door jam switch PDM? unpluged driver side looked good .termials looked good and tight. I know on gms we have problem with termial fretting which is carbon tracking or rust not seen by the eye but unpluging and pluging back in is a quick fix.going to remove pass side tomorrow easy to get to if take outside door handle off also can get a good look at it. thanks for the help Wayne

 

Yes I mean check the pin tension and make sure the terminal isn't backing out of the plastic plug.They could be dirty as well.The PDM is the pass. window switch assy.The lock is seperate that is just the lock.

Was talking to volvo tech he said pdm is in sleep mode and try to power down system i did it didnt work (by removing fuses for pass door) he said if didnt work needs pdm . does the pdm need to be programed? thanks for the help

 

Yes the PDM will need a download to activate it.It should cost $30.00 for the software and 1/2 hour labor.

TECH I just installed the pdm in my wifes car (cost $250) very easy to install just had to remove door panel also had my wife bring it to volvo to program pdm ($90) works great now. I had this problem when i step on the gas hard the turbos would pulse on and off when looking into it more i found out that a turbo control valve was no good replaced drives like a new car.($50) for part mounted on air filter box. thanks a lot Wayne
