2004 S80 Transimission Shift Solenoid
I have an 04 S80 with a 4T65E Transmission, I'm having a shift fare when shifting from 2nd-3rd, if you go on the gas hard, and it shifts a 3K or more, shifts fine! I was going to try to replace the shift solenoids.
How do I get to the Solenoids, do I have to drop trans., subframe....?
I'm assuming the Solenoids are it the back cover since there not under the pan???
ANY HELP???

I wanted to do the same, since I had a GM 4L60E trans that had some shift problems until I replaced the shift solenoid. That cleared it up.
I took the Volvo to 2 trans shops, and both told me the side pan had to come off, and that meant dropping the transmission. Which means dropping the sub frame. Which means a minimum $700 to $800 in labor for R&R. That is half of the $1400 for a rebuild, if it needs no hard parts not in the kit.
So here I sit, not trying to replace the solenoid(s) myself either.
