Engine Service Required msg but NO check engine light
Hi, Gang. I've searched the forum for an hour and have given up and will just post this. Hope it's not ridiculously redundant.
I had a Check Engine Light (CEL) and an Engine System Service Required message. I had an ECM-9150 relating to the ETM (throttle body). I took out the ETM and it was dirty so I cleaned it really well. After reassembly the Check Engine Light is off but the Engine System Service Required message is still on. If my cleaning didn't do the job why is the CEL still off? Can I turn the message off? I need to pass emissions.
Thanks
Dan

I have 2001 s80 Have been getting that message for 6 months It will stay on about 100 miles and go off for about 300 miles then back on. No CEL has ever come on and have no codes. I am starting to get some surgeing at 2000 rpm Throttle body replaced at 94000 miles now have 144K Going to have TB recleaned and see if this helps

Yeah, I know. Since it's a 99 S-80 we missed the boat on the recall replacement. My girlfriend doesn't remember getting any notice in the mail but it doesn't matter now. The car passed emissions and now I know how to replace an ETM so I'll just wait for complete failure and replace it myself. I saw them online for $299/$100 core. An independent Volvo joint wanted $995 for a replacement.
