How do you access the fuel pump? I have a gas odor but no gas leak. Its a 2000 S80 T6.

I know there was a recall for some years to replace the fuel pump. You may want to check on this!

It more than likely is the fuel pump, which is under the rear seat, I am not going into detail if I can help it, but call your dealer and see if your under Recall 220, it is probably covered.

Thanks everyone. I will check with the dealer tomorrow. I see postings about the 2001 and up fuel pump recall but nothing on the 2000. It should be the same though.

I will post what i find.

That model year 2000 you may be correct, I would contact them and see what they can do. The recall does not cover 2000, but if you need step-by-step on it, let me know.

No warranty up here. How easy is it see the pump? Its under the rear seat right? Does the seat just flip up? I want to see if anything is leaking out.

If it is not an executive, you can just lift the rear seat out, it will be under the right side on an incline, you may have to remove a black bar, you will see a access cover, remove the two visible nuts, then release the right backrest in the trunk, fold it down and you should be able to access the other two and see if its leaking, but if you want to remove the side bolster on the right, releases on the bottom (little tricky), and remove that backrest completely (SRS connector and 14 mm bolt), you will do this anyways to replace it and is easier to access.

Tools needed for backrest removal:

3/8 air impact works best
17 "mm socket 3/8"*
15 " "*
14 " "
10 " "

*may not be needed

See the back seat???? Difficult!

I believe the executive is distinguished by the badge near the rear side window.

Oh and one more thing, there is an SRS connector on the rear backrest, do not turn the car on if this is removed.

By right side do you mean driver side or passenger side?
