Default Need Help! '01 S80 battery dead (again) after being parked for a week!

I have a 2001 S80 2.9, and about two months ago, it was dead after being parked for about a week. Although the battery was only 9 months old, I replaced it (per Pep Boys recommendation, the only place within close proximity to me), and life seemed good.

Fast forward to today - and again, the car was parked for about 9 days, and went to start it up - same thing. Not even a click-click-click - dead as a door nail.

No warning lights have come on to tell me that this is an alternator issue - and when the battery was replaced 2 mos ago, Pep Boys supposedly did a charge test and said everything was fine.

Any thoughts on what could be causing this? Is this typical of an alternator issue - or something else electrical. Just want to have as much info as possible before I go to a car mechanic.

Thanks for your insight

Lisa, you need to check for a draw on the battery somewhere. If you have a multimeter and know how to use it you can test for this.

Will need a good battery and charge first, then find where the draw is. Easy stuff first, dome light on somewhere, etc...

Here's a quick link that I found on a "google"...

I would highly recommend you check your Alternator, I had this same problem with my Lexus and it was the alternator that was draining the battery down. Good luck and Happy Motoring.

75ohm has the right idea, these cars have a habit to continue to suck battery power even when it's off. I left one of my car doors slightly open for the night and my battery was dead the following morning.

I remove trunk lights on Volvos for this reason. They don't "spring open" enough to easily see them. My S80 has been found once or twice with an open trunk. My S70 opens the trunk if you just look wrong at the key fob.
