P0442 Small Evap Leak
So this minor code shows me the check engine sign, but doesnt show a meesage in the window to the left of the speedo.
i say this code is minor because my performance and mileage is still the same
From the quick reading i have done this code has something do to with the Evap recirculation system, where fuel vapours are routed via a valve from from the manifold (?) to some vapour storage box and back to the intake
Just wondering if anyone has any clues on this for me to check out?
CAR: 99 S80 T6, all maintenance up to date, no recent work done so this code just kinda came out of nowhere...thanks

Possible Source
leaking fuel tank, filler pipe, fuel tank filler cap, EVAP canister, EVAP canister shut-off valve or lines between these components
Check the gas cap and gasket 1st.

I looked at the lines between the cooling fan and the intake, all seem connected, i could not really find anything under the car, but its hard to get in there without jacking it up
how do i check the gas cap ? it clicks when i close it, and what gasket are you referring to ?

There is a black gasket in the gas cap that you can see cracking. You may be eligible for the EMS extended warranty, ecm upgrade at no charge, call dealer.

warranty i belive is only 10 years 100,000 mile ext. warranty on that.
but i may be wrong. if u have a major leak its most likely tha gas cap.
theres many diff. things it could be a sticking evap valve a torn hose in the evap system. many little things. u will need to know what codes u have

ECM software upgrade is already done
need2fix: Please look at my original post and title of the thread,. the code and what it means is P0442 Small evap leak, dont think its gas cap cause i dont smell gas around it, but im sure the gasket is cheap so ill buy it on the weekend
