Any clever fix ideas for this?

 

check e-bay, I got mine there, you can install it yourself, as far as a cheap fix, I dont know of one, best regards, beefheart

 

You can use velcro tape to hold it down, but you have to manually open and close it...PITA! And there's not much surface area to put the velcro tape on so it kept falling off.

Mine is also broken, this is the second one. The first one was replaced years ago under warranty. On mine one of the two little tabs on the female part is broken. So it stays down until I hit the first bump and then it pops up. So I just leave it in the up position.

I called the dealer and of course they don't sell just the small female part, only the whole cup assembly for like $50. So I just live with it. I do use the cup holder a lot, though.

I keep hoping that I will stumble across something similar that I can use for a lot cheaper. I'm sure there are lots of things that use this type of push-push closing device on toys, cabinets, stereo equipment, etc. Just haven't found one yet.

I use electrical tape for mine! Scotch is to weak to hold it closed and I don't want to use Duct Tape. One small strand has held for a month and a half now. Nice thing is the adhesive on electrical tape is nowhere near the PITA to remove compared to Duct Tape.
