RE: t6 instrument panel lights
my 2002 s60 just did this the other day when I went to adjust my clock for daylight savings time. It was fine, then no backlit light on the LCD. All other lights in the instrument panel i.e. the mileage indicator etc. were bright. This morning after it being out for a couple of days it is back to being lit up. Very strange. I checked all sorts of buttons and my service manual.

With my previous body shop experience, I would have to say the bulb light. However, I do not have any direct experience with Volvo on this. My 2cents.
If it was my car, I would attempt to check out the bulb.
Tech: is right. Asking the dealer about the bulb might lead you to a better answer. Please come back and post your resolution.

Out here in Lafayette, CA where the median household income is $105,000, nobody driving a Volvo works on their car. So when a cheapo like me goes up to the service department and asks technical questions, they only say make an appointment and we'll tell you what we find...$120 later for diagnosis.
So if I was to ask them about a bulb in the dash...I'm foooooooooked!
Glad we have tech and other great guys to help us DITY (do it yourself).
