Default Is this good or not? PLEASE HELP!

Hey everyone,

First and foremost, I am a 19 year old that loves to work on cars, but needs some help here before I buy my FIRST Volvo!

I come from the area of Honda, where everything for the most part is simple and easy to work on, but I had my challenge when I owned a Porsche 944 for a mere 4 months. The challenge was fun, but time and money consuming!

Well I have the chance to buy a 1998 S90 for $2000.. The owner says, "Very nice running top of the line Volvo with 146K miles. Has all the bells and whistles including side air bags, CD, ABS, leather, climate control, 2.9 straight six, automatic, and rear wheel drive. The tires are very good. The interior is clean, The exterior is decent, with glossy paint and a few dings, nothing major. The engine and transmission are good and it is not an oil burner. I personally prefer a rear wheel drive vehicle like this as they are less expensive to repair and handle better.

The only problem with the car is it occaisonally gets a rear speed sensor error code. You are buying it that way and the price reflects it. It should not be a major expense to fix, or you can just drive it that way, as I have been doing. It does not impair the performance of the car" Right from the Ad!

Now my questions!

1. Is this worth it?
2. Does it sound like it is going to have a TON of problems?
3. Is it hard to replace the rear speed sensor?
4. How much would that run me?

I have REALLY loved the way Volvo have designed their cars, and now that I have the chance to get one, I do not want to get screwed!

If you could PLEASE help me, I would be VERY APPRECIATIVE!

Thanks SO much!

Ian

That price is not all that bad. It might be as simple as the speed sensor being bad or the wiring.
