Exclamation 2000 Volvo V40 issues.

I bought this car off a friend for $800 only, ran fine only issue was a misfire on cylinder 1 and hard start due to fuel pressure regulator. Got all new spark plugs and the misfire on cylinder 1 went away along with the check engine light. Decided I wanted to clean the air filter box to try and improve starting so I asked my friend with me to remove the hose and pointed to it (I know he has some car background so I trust.) I go to get stuff out of the hatch when he says green liquid came out of the hose so he put it back quickly. Came over and noticed antifreeze on my engine and fuel injector plugs and the coolant tank was slightly low. I topped off the tank to the max line and whipped off as much antifreeze as i could from the engine cover and fuel injector plugs. Started the car and it sputtered more than usual as the check engine light came on, I read the code and it said misfire cylinder 3. I also noticed a hissing sound near the PCV area that wasn't there before. Car is derivable just not registered, any suggestions?

Did you use genuine volvo spark plugs when you changed them? If not I would replace. I have seen many a post where a change eback to volvo plugs cures the same issue.

If that doesn't work I would look to replace the coils. That is not as cheap.

sounds like you may have created a vacuum leak. check around for any cracked tubing or a source for the hissing. You may also have gotten your plug wires wet - which is a sign they should be replaced as well.

Well now that is has warmed up somewhat here in Connecticut ive gotten back to the car, replaced the fuel injectors and fuel pressure regulator which solved the hard start and sputtering issue. I also discovered the spark plug and injector wires had some exposed wiring that was fixed with some electrical tape and a coil pack boot was cracked so put heat shrink tubing over the boot until I can buy a new one. So far no check engine light or rough running!
