Default Desperately needing help for our V40

our daughter is driving our 2001 V40 and the CEL came on.
we took it to a shop today and they found several codes.
P0101
P0139
P0172B
P0234
P0301
P0309

The guy is not a volvo mechanic. the next dealership is over 2 hours away and they are just not friendly whatsoever.

can anybody might point me in the right direction toward diagnosing the problem (s)?
of course stuff like this always happens when the husband is deployed
we already thought about the fuel pressure regulator and/ or the mass air flow. the P0234 really scares me.

I hope anybody can give me any advise.

thanks
Heike

well, after the car actually died and one mechanic told me not to bring the car back since they don't know what's wrong, i went to work on it.
being a girl who never worked on cars, i got it to run. i only have to replace one more hose and this should be it.

i replaced the MAF, cleaned the idle air control valve (that was nasty) and i also replaced the fuel pressure regulator.
the car runs great now. hopefully it will stay this way, otherwise we will trade it in.

Default Sounds like you're set

Wow, that's fantastic that you cleaned out your MAF and the idle control valve. I was going to post that those could be possibilities. Without looking up each code specifically though, other culprits could be temp sensor and thermostat and/or ignition coils. Those seem to all go around the 150k mile - mile marker. We experienced those and over the last few months and our trusty V40 has been ticking smoothly again since going through those growing pains. Haven't had issue with fuel regulator yet, although good to know that could be coming up - hopefully not anytime soon.

In the meantime, we're eagerly anticipating pick up of our next new Volvo (will keep the V40 around for years to come ).

You set codes for a MAF, so good. You have some fuel trim codes in there, the rear o2 sensor may be going, or it may be related, not sure what the 300 codes are.
