Default V40 CEM Replacement

Hi Guys,

Ive had a problem with the parking lights on my 99 V40, Ive had the vehicle into the dealer and after a couple of hours of testing. It appears that a fault has been traced to the CEM module. There is no live output from the box to this curcuit when there should be.

I have been quoted by volvo £400 + labour, to replace this box.

I have a replacement CEM that I previously purchased from a breaker that came out of a 2000 V40, when volvo told me that the CEM was at fault I gave them the part number of the one I had bought. The part number was not the same as the one on my car, but it had superseded the one on my car. So it is the correct part and the part they would have ordered should I have wanted a new one.

Volvo however have warned me about replacing this, as it could have a detrimental if not serious effect on the rest of the electronics. I cant see why, unless they are giving me the dealer bulls**t to get me to hand over the £400.

Has anyone ever replaced one of these, or see any reason why I shouldnt put it in. Are they programmed??

Thanks for any help.
