Default 2000 V70- Code: Lock Up Function slipping or Not Engaged

Code: Lock Up Function slipping or Not Engaged
I have a 2000 Volvo V70, Not R-design and not turbo.

My car is currently at a transmission shop and I am awaiting their diagnosis.

The code stated, Lock-up function slipping or not engaged.

I have little to no knowledge of cars, but at "first": look theguy threw around word like, convertor, "concern regarding a computer partthat is about $1,065, and clogging filter......

I have no idea what of this means, but he also stated good news I do notneed new transmission, but just parts replaced. The draw to using this shop waswith them replacing parts he warranty's the entire transmission for 3years/ 50kmiles. So I figure it would be okay to just replace parts?

I did research, by searching the code. I say terms,....such as

Torque converter, a different part TC Lock-up solenoid, and S1-S5 Solenoid.

Main questions,

1. Thoughts, is it better to replace parts or entire transmission?

2. What terms/ or parts could I expect to hear back for the mechanic?

3. Where should to research to insure he is charging me the correct amountfor parts?

Any thoughts, suggestions, ideas are welcome.....

Thank you,

ELP-FL
