2000 V70 stalled out twice while driving.
I was driving my 5 speed V70 with a full tank of gas. I slowed pretty quickly, depressed the clutch, and started to change lanes to the right, to go into a store drive. Before I was even halfway to the other lane I noticed the steering felt tighter than normal.., the car had stalled out on me. Hmmmm... So, the next day, the very same thing happened. Quicker than normal slow down, depressed clutch, and made a lane change to the right to go into a store drive, car stalled. I had well over a half a tank of gas, what gives? I have noticed that this car will idle way down upon deceleration and depressing the clutch, and it seems like it may stall, but it never did untill two days ago. Anybody have an idea? Will anyone ever reply to any of my posts? Lets wait and see...

No, this is completely stock. The car now has 90,000 miles and no throttle body cleaning as of yet. The idle is normal as far as I am aware, no big major fluctuations or anything like that. It is just that sometimes when you dpress the clutch and slow down it will go to around 500 RPM or slightly less. The only times it has stalled were the twice in two days episode. It was an odd occurance to say the least.

Tech,
I don't suppose there is any way to tell if the ETM has been replaced is there? Maybe a slightly different look or something? I just read a post about the S80. This guy posted an article that stated the ETM can cause the car to stall unexpectedly. That is what happened to me. I am going to go to the dealer next week to fill out the form for the 100,000 mile badge Do you think I should mention my trouble to them? If so, should say it surges as well? Just say it is radom I guess, right? I had my timing belt service done at a private shop(ex Volvo tech), and failed to mention that issue to them.

The original ETM has a white sticker a replacement has a yellow sticker.
Can be seen by looking at it. The sticker should be facing the front of the car.
Is the Check engine light on?
Yes maybe mention it to them. The stalling and Idle surging.

I guess that ETM is Electronic Throttle Management?, and this device should be between the air box and the intake manifold, right? It looks like there are two devices along the intake hose. I did not find any yellow stickers anywhere.
No, the check engine light is not on, and has never come on since I have had the vehicle. It never came on when the stalling occurred. My Service Engine came on,(not due to the stalling) but I thought that was due to the mileage and the computer brought it on as a reminder to get the regular maintenance done.
Once again made a post then did some more research. DOH!
It is Module not Management. I believe I WILL be asking my local Volvo dealer to change that out for me. I stalled out in a pretty decent amount of traffic....twice...could have been bad
Has anyone experienced problems with the replacement module? Just wondering if the 2000 was a good buy. I hope so, I really do like it.
