Common problems V70 Wagon ?
I have owned my first Volvo for about a month now 1997 V70 auto.
Having avidly reading posts on the forums I have come to the conclusion that my wagon has suffered the most common problems with this model,
1. ABS module (now repaired)
2. Engine mount (top) to do
3. Tailgate gas struts to do
4. Heater blower motor only works full speed to do
5. headlamp wiper motors, might not bother repairing ?
6. tailgate interior trim fixings worked loose (now repaired)
7. Timing belt / water pump job (job done with help from the forum)
What else can I look forward to do ?
But I love the car so will get round to them all in time

Mileage please, turbo or not?
Hello, Since it's a 1997 you have the possibility of jet black transmission fluid, due to Volvo's plainly stupid claim that transmission fluid is lifetime, to look forward to. Get 4 litres of fluid and do at least one drain-and-fill to inspect. You need a 24mm wrench, one of the aluminum gaskets-the same as your oil drain plug gasket. If it's clean-clear red-you know someone took a bit of care. If it's dirty-much more likely-I recommend the SUPER EASY TO DO self powered flush where you extend the top transmission cooling line with some 1/2" clear plastic tubing and let the transmission pump itself out 2 litres at a time. Adding through the dipstick hole. Doubtless you've seen the posts on this one. You'll need the 2 "O" rings for the cooling line and possibly the external lock for the cooling line-cheap.
Humid weather is said to cause the door panels to delaminate due to an inferior glue which was used for a while. Your window master switch can go any time. No front end wear or leaks were mentioned-good. If it's a non-turbo use only the Volvo spark plugs. If it's a turbo consider drilling 2, 3mm drain holes into the bottom of the outlet boss of the pump housing. Check your cabin air filter. It could be neglected. There might not be one there. Install one if it's gone. The heater cores and A/C evaperators do have a lifespan. Kira
