Engine shut down going from D to N

Engine shut down going from D to N
2001 V70 T5 geartronic. 116k miles.
Been chasing these random shutdown + engine hesitation problems. Finally swap the MAF and no longer get these but now I have this problem instead
- When car is warmed up, shifting from D to N sometimes will cause engine RPM to drop and just die
- When the car is cold, sometimes I get RPM hunting at about 1/2 second intervals. Eventually engine sputters like crazy. Today this happened when I shifted to R to back out of the garage. I shifted back to P and eventually got the hesitant engine RPM up to 2000+. I held it at 2000+ RPM for 20-30 seconds until I saw the temperature needle instantly move up 1 tick (I suppose the thermostat opened? that quick?) and then I lift my foot off the gas and it idled smoothly.
Wife has a 01 XC70 and I've swapped TCV and IAT with that car with no improvement. ETM replaced and PCV cleaned at 90k miles. I just looked at the PTC as well and it was perfectly clear.
I do have an ABS controller that acted up 3-4 times this summer (ABS/STC light, Urgent brake failure message, and even ABS pump activating going down hill at 30mph once in perfectly dry condition) Currently doesn't act up. Will pull the ABS controller soon and re-solder the weak solder joint repair. Could ABS controller cause such bad problems as I've mentioned above?
I use the PPC Volvo code reader and have no codes, any idea what this might be?
