Default 99 v70 GLT and fuel requirements?

My manual calls for 93 octane due to the turbo.
I was told today that I don't need to run the 93 octane.
What do you guys run?
I was also thinking of get a 98 S70 turbo. Is 93 octane required for that as well?

If you can afford it run 93 all the time.
If you can't run one tank 93 and then one tank a lower octane.

Thats how I run both of my cars at the moment.

Thanks Tech,
I have been running 93 for the last three months.
The S70 might be for my daughter but I think the turbo would be to much for her in fuel cost and maintance.

I have a 99 s70 awd. It has a turbo, suppose to run highest possible. However regular makes it run just fine. I also get around 25 mpg.

S70driver, thanks for the reply. I'm going to try a tank full and see how it does.
BTW, nice looking car.

I run 87 octane in mine all the time. I have experimented with higher octane and it made no difference whatsoever in mileage or how the car felt. All three of mine are turbos.

But the long term problems with running the 87 all the time on the turbo cars is it will lead to a Burnt valve over a period of time.

Thats why I suggest trying to stay with atleast the mid grade or one of each.

Now, I didn't think of burnt valves. I was thinking of carbine build up but that would normally be with a lower octane fuel. Then again, this is my first car with a turbo.

For my daughter, maybe we will stay away from the turbo's.

Alot of times Carbon build up will lead to a burnt valve.
I also run Valve cleaner through both of my turbo cars every 1 to 2 months.

I usually get some stuff from work and run it through the intake but I also love but can't always afford Techron. That stuff works AWESOME.

I hear Seafoam works great as well but never used it.

I have a V70 (No Turbo) with 148K miles on it... I do go back and forth between High and Low grade fuel - Never thought about using Value Cleaner. Any harm in starting to do so?
