Default Occasional stalling P0171 code

Ok, have a bit of an issue. My 04 non-turbo has been stalling occasionally - during coast down, slowing to near a stop, and more often than not, when I'm turning (I'm sure it's just the extra load). The idle drops to about 500 rpm as I get down to 5 mph or so and most of the time it catches itself, other times is stalls. I had the MAF sensor changed a few months ago, due to an issue with rough idle and hesitation, kind of like bad gas.

I recently had the Check Engine light come on, I had the code read and it came up P0171. I cleaned the MAF sensor, reset the code and then unhooked the battery for 10 minutes and all was well for about 4 days. The light just popped back on.

I don't know if the two items are related, but rather than randomly change parts, I thought I'd pose the question here.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Default Same stalling story on my 98 V70

Just picked up a very clean 98 Volvo V70 yesterday. For only 2000$. The lady that I bought it from was the second owner. She had the very same problems with this car...and someone told her it was the transmission.. I know it's not but she just wanted to get rid of it...lol. Have been looking around and reading that it could be the MAF or the TPS? Not sure. The car has not stalled or slowed for me yet at all and no check engine light... it has 120,000 miles on it. Has anyone found a fix yet??

Default

Additional thing I did recently was cleaning the throttle body. It was pretty nasty. I did the reset dance - unhooked the battery, reset the code and all was well for a day and a half. Then the light came back on. The car runs fine, once a week or so the light will go out for a bit, then comes back on. I'm sure the light resetting is related to the number of key cycles.
With 93k, and it runs fine, I'll live with the service light.

Default P0171 code AND service reminder light

Hello, 1) P0171-Fuel trim too lean Bank 1. Checking for vacuum leaks is the mandatory first step. Use the search function on all the Volvo boards and see what turns up. If you have a code reader why did you need to unhook the battery? 2) The 1998 requires a special tool to turn the light off. Buy it on sale, meet someone in a Volvo club's local chapter or patronize an indie who'll include it in an oil change. When anyone goes into the dash, they remove that bulb. Kira
