Removing roof trim and installing roof rails...cut roof trim?
I just bought some used roof rails to put on my v70. They came off a XC70. I can see that I have to remove the rain gutter runner and cut it out to fit the footings on the roof rail. Has anyone else done this? Is it difficult to remover the runner and the clips? Where should I start? I have all the hardware.....12 torx screws and washers, which account for the two screws on each foot (3 feet per rail) and 2 rails. But I also have two left over torx screws without washers and I am not sure where these are going to be used. Should I let the volvo body shop guys do it? Is there a chance I could screw it up?

I have instruction sheet
If you have not completed the installation, I have the instruction sheet in .pdf format.
I do not know how to add it as a link here. Send me your e-mail address & I will send it back to you.
What language do you want?
Could you screw it up? Yeah, if you tried really, really hard.

I did this on my V70 and it's not hard at all. It should take you just a few minutes (15 maybe) to do the whole thing. And by the way, I didn't have to cut anything, just remove the old trim, all the way down to the bottom of the windshield, and install the new one. The mounting wholes might be hidden by some rubber, but they are there. Good luck.

I'm about to do this myself but can't find any instructions. Do you have any photos of the roof rail removal and install? Appreciate your assistance.

Woodkayaker: I would really appreciate a copy of these instructions since I purchased a 2004 V70 with no roof rails. I bought some new to me roof rails (not with the indentation on the middle foot) and need to install them. Thanks email: tiptonsuzanne@gmail.com

Factory roof rack install
I just got a factory rack and crossbars from the junkyard for $40. Took all of the trim too including the stuff on the windshield edges. Half hour later I had the entire thing installed on my car. All of the bolt holes were there (under plastic blocks and sealant tape) Took the rack off of a 98 V70XC and put it on my 96 850. Good luck!

Thank you for sharing the link and CT_V70 for posting these instructions.
They will help me a lot in installing my rails. Nice to see that this old post still lives. (I previously had Vadis software but some sort of time limit made it invalid and a new purchase of Vadis software had such complicated install instructions I just gave up, so I appreciate your reference.)
