Default 06 V70 low beam bulb replace

Does anyone have experience with how to change the low beam bulbs on an 06 V70? Starts out easy enough by removing the cover, then, all hell breaks loose. Is this thing going to cause an arm and a leg to change? Almost had a reck the other night in the rain.
thanks
josefsyl

Hello, I just saw this post. Did you get your bulb changed? All you need do is gently unplug the connector and release the wire bail which holds the bulb in place. Take note of the alignment lug's position so you can match it with the new bulb. The bulb won't seat squarely if the lug isn't "home". Kira

josefsyl as Georgeandkira said it really isn't that difficult. The little wire retainer takes a little wrangling to release but that is the most difficult part IMO. I don't remember exactly which way it releases but there is a little hook on the one side near the top of the bend of the wire and you just need to press in and move it sideways a little to release the wire retainer. Then the bulb comes right out.

Thanks for the info. I ended up having to take it to the dealer. it was fairly expensive but, when the technician came out when it was done, his hand was all bloody from trying to get the bulbs in. I love how volvo engineers things.
If you want to have fun with the 06 V70 try replacing the fuse for the cigarette lighter. You have to take the dash board off.

Hello, I thought cigarette lighters were years gone by. We have 12V sockets now. Kira

Its easy, if you're the Terminator with steel fingers and fully rotating steel joints. And cannot feel pain.

Wife's went out on a road trip at night. Useless fog lights on the 06, too.
At least the auxillary bulbs stayed lit so there was some appearance of light in the headlight.

Tried to do it, gave up (no clearance without removing other parts) so I had the dealer do all four main bulbs at the same time on the theory that the others were not long for this world, either. Cost about $100, but save me much aggravation. I only wish I could turn the daytime running lights OFF!

Curiously, there is a section in the owners manual on how to replace them. That owners manual doesn't recommend much do-it-yourself service (ever tried to check the auto trans fluid?) but seems to think this job is easy enough for the average owner to perform. Right.....especially at night.

I only wish now that I had taken photos of the technicians hands and sent them to Volvo. Amazing. Ill bet the designers just sit and laugh when they design components like this.

Hello, I have a favorite replacement replacement bulb and it's the Sylvania Silver Star. It's a little whiter than normal and doesn't tax the wiring. I've seen 850/V70 vehicles with headlamp leads which have had all the insulation melted off. Out of consideration to the other drivers; if "the wife likes alot of light", have her drive during daylight hours. Kira

I bought my H7's ( the size of bulb for lowbeams) on amazon.com - you will save buying silverstar ultras there -- auto zone charges about 15-20 dollars more.
