Default New Purchase

I am looking at a 2002 CrossCountry with 80,000 miles. Is there anything I should look for?

look for a good time, cause that is what you will get.

Open each door and look for paint tape lines aka rough edge from painted repairs
Check owners manual for recent service
Take vin to dealership and make sure recalls have been done
Drive and enjoy the experience of a very weird transmission
Look for surging on acceleration
wear a glove and pull tranny dip stick look at fluid on white cloth:
Black is bad and typical burned
Brown is good but worn
Red is recent flush
make sure all options work
Take car to gravel topped parking lot and make sure awd works you can tell when it happens
listen for front end noises if youhave them they are usually end links, lower control arm bushings, strut bearings. etc
purchase a warranty that will cover tranny
Make sure they have both keys and transponders otherwise be prepared to charge you left arm and a leg for new ones
look underneath for dents scrapes and gouges to determine previous use

hummmm that about what i did. I think i got a steal for an 01 with 127k for 6500.
