How difficult is it to replace the oil filter?
Greetings, all:
I tend to change the oil and filter on my cars more frequently than recommended due to the type of driving I do (mostly short trips, many under five miles). I recently purchased a 2006 XC70 and noticed, during a visit to the auto store, that the oil filter they sell for the car is not the screw-on type, but rather one that must fit inside a canister.
I have changed oil filters inside canisters before -- for the 20 years I owned an MG Midget -- so I am familiar with the job.
So, how difficult is it to replace one on this car and, if it's a pain, anyone know of instructions out there?
Also, I'd appreciated any recommendations you may have on oil filter brands. The only one the auto store sells for the car is a Puralator.
Lastly, I understand that Castrol Synthetic Blend 5-30W is the recommended oil. Anyone running on pure synthetic?
My thanks.
