Default Should I get a new XC-70?

Hello Volvo folks. I am turning in my VW diesel wagen (thanks VW!) and looking for a new station wagon. Slim pickings in 'Murrica where car choices are krap. I now find myself looking at an XC-70. There's still a few 2016's left in the Houston area. Since they're now old hat - last year's model, no longer produced, I am hoping I can snag a good deal.

So, questions:

- the 2.0L 4 cylinder. Is it reliable?
- Are Volvo gonna exist for much longer under their Chinese owners?
- Is the car reliable?
- What are the pro's and con's??

Note: Please don't suggest I get an SUV. I HATE SUV's. And I don't want an XC-60. I need a wagon that is big enough to take my bicycle without removing a wheel. Only 3 wagons available that can do that: VW Golf Sportwagen; MB E350; and XC-70. New cars, that is.

Fire away!

Still relatively unproven, but so far it has been pretty good. Haven't seen any with a ton of miles yet though.

I would not worry about them.

So far, yes. Again, haven't seen them with a ton of miles. The platform is the same as the ones with the 6 cylinder engine and those have been reliable aside from the 6 cylinder engine.

Couldn't say with regard to other makes and models. But as I said, the platform has been around a while so the bugs are worked out. The new SPA platform, however, is all new and has had a lot of bugs. That would include the new V90. More technology and bells and whistles on that, but more bugs.
See bold for answers.

Tks for that. I still need to feel a bit better about Volvo - they seem to have been through the mill since the big crash.

They are building a new plant in the US and are in the midst of launching a totally new platform. In 3 years, the oldest car will be the current XC90.

They also signed a huge deal with Uber to provide cars for autonomous Ubers.

Anything can happen, but I'm a dealer tech and I have no worries about my job or the brand.

I am now the proud owner of an XC-70 T5 Wagon, and I'm very happy with it. I love the 2.0T engine - it pulls fast when needed, or gives me 30mpg when I'm feeling frugal. And tons of space. I think this is the last of the "classic" Volvos - it looks like a Volvo! And the price was right - like buying a new car for a used price.

And my bikes fit in the back no problem....
