98 V70 XC drivers door lock
 

The key unlocks the liftgate and starts the ignition but does not unlock the door. It will turn both directions but will not engage the lock. Power locks do work. I think maybe a rod has broken. Does anyone have a diagram of how the manual locking system works?

Is it not mechanical like I am thinking?
No rod?
Should I just replace the actuator?

There is NOT linkage to it. You'll need to replace the latch and / or make sure it's plugged in at the bottom of the latch.
