ETS Light
 

Got radiator replaced by indy mechanic shop, paid, left, and car died down the street. Limp it back to shop and mechanics examine wires/tubing near radiator, then replaced a couple sections of tubing. Car ran great for a day, then the ETS Light went on and problems with throttle.

First question: could the mechanics doing the radiator have messed anything up related to ETS, or totally unrelated?

Second question: Are there any first steps to addressing the ETS light? Or is it back to the mechanic, and if not a Volvo mechanic, can the indy mechanics do the job?

You have the known to fail Magnetti Marelli (sp) throttle module. They all fail. First step is to scan the control units looking for throttle related codes.

The module is simple to replace and can be plug and play - if you get one that is preprogrammed from a place such as xemodex.com

If not a new one has to be programmed using Vida (generally at your local Volvo dealer)

I did notice throttle issue came up after 50+ miles of driving; yesterday, a quick run to the market, it did not exhibit any problems, so wondering if the issue is known to crop up after many miles, whereas short trips it doesn't? Might have to limp along for a bit before I can purchase the module.

Also, was there a YouTube video on that plug and play and how to do it?

Thanks hoonk, I ordered xemodex preprogrammed; is it really plug and play? Not a mechanic myself but looks like I could do it. Any thoughts if you have time. Thanks again for the rec.
