Locked fuel door

Fuel door on 2000 v70 S 2.0 Wagon, "First Generation" with 5 speed manual gear box won't unlock. No blown fuses. Car does not appear to have manual release as I have seen in instructional videos for sedans.
I looked in spare tire well and removed interior rear side panels exposing the metal body panels all up and down the inside of the car in the area of the fuel filler compartment. Found the hose to the tank; but no release.
It's about 20 degrees here so cracked some plastic along the way. (Won't be removing plastic panels again when it's this cold.) Would have been worth it if I could have found a manual release.

Tomorrow I can call a buddy who knows some Volvo mechanics; but thought I would see if I could get some help here first. Thanks.

Problem solved

Thanks for the video post; but it's not the answer to my problem. Yesterday with the help of a mechanic friend we discovered an interior passage that leads to a locking motor that does have a release lever on the top; but its not easy to get to, and you can't see it. You have to pull two interior panels back before the access to this passageway is evident. Then you have to reach a ways before you feel the locking motor. If you don't have a grimace on your face, you haven't reached in far enough. From there disengaging the lock is as easy as removing a plastic 'male' part from the back of the fuel door. Replace the motor if you like, I'm using magnets and a piece of cord for a handle. The cord tucks nicely out of sight in the seam between the fuel door and the body of the car. I don't really see the need to lock the gas door on a car that is 15 years old.

My buddy called me about the same issue today with his '98 car. I'll have to see that one.

When you say manual release, are you talking about a release other than the one in the lower driver side door that electronically releases fuel door? I am unaware of a manual switch.

I had that issue the other day (it was about -5F outside), and I was able to get the electronic switch to unlock the fuel door by locking and unlocking the door locks a couple times. Unsure how this effected the fuel door lock, but it did!
