smoke emitting from vents 99 v70

appears that my coolant may be evaporating via my heater in my car??

car is a barn find... battery was dead when i drove it for about 45 min.. car overheated.

put new battery in, drove for weeks.. wife lost key.. car sat for month. now as i got keys and reprogrammed, driving car home.. had smoke coming from vents.

heater core, ? or able to replace some thing else that may be cheaper and easier??

dont loose your key.. keys were 60 buckooos, reprogramming 150 and towing.. grr... there goes 400 dollars..... dammit

Heater core.

Also, make sure you have coolant before you drive it. These heads are very soft and overheating them will cause damage to the head and head gasket.

Changing the heater core is one of the simplest jobs there is on a Volvo and the part isn't that expensive either.

The heater core seems to be the fuse on the cooling system, when anything starts to overheat or gets over pressurized the heater core tends to blow first.
