2001 V70 XC shocks and struts
 

I recently bought a very clean used 2001 V70 XC. It has 102k miles. It feels like the car is riding rough, especially over small bumps, small pot holes, etc. I took it to the mechanic and he said he doesn't recommend that I replace shocks, struts, springs, because it will cost me a small fortune and I won't notice much of a difference in ride quality. I replaced spring seats per his recommendation. It seems to help somewhat. But I still feel like I need the shocks and springs overhauled. Has anyone ever replaced shocks and springs? How much of a difference did it make?
