How are ya? Hey, are there any newer key fobs that can be "retrofitted" to a 2006 V70? This thing is huge compared to my old Audi key fob...

Actually older - you can use the triangular remote with a rubber handled key instead of the switchblade thing. Of course both need a download using VIDA to make the car accept them.

Also, my present key fob does not open the rear hatch, is that a key fob thing or a car thing?

I've not seen a 2005 with a powered opening tailgate - So if it does not have one that button will only unlock the tailgate. If it does not unlock - does it lock and unlock when you turn the key in the drivers door lock? If so there may be a bad button/connection on the remote.

I meant unlock, sry, I will try the key thing...

 

Make sure your glove box isn't locked, aka valet mode (there is also a button for this by the AC controls). This will prevent the trunk from unlocking, even with the key and the rest of the car unlocked.
