Misfire and ignition coils
118k miles on my 20003 V70 2.5T AWD. Developed a classic mifite about a mile from home last week. No prior indication. Worst under load or driving up hill.
Mechanic determined it was bad coiils no. 1 and 2. Swapped them with coils 4 and 5 just to confirm ans, sure enough, 4 and 5 misfired.
So, at his recommendation we did all five coil packs and new plugs. $850 later, car is good to go.

So, I feel bad. After a bit of research I realize I could have easily done this entire job myself for ~$325 and under 2 hours. IPD has the coils for $60 each (compared to $109 each the shop charged me) and it's an easy job.
But, I will say this
-the car is my daily driver for work can I cannot afford any downtime
-the shop diagnosed the problem quickly and correctly
-the car was only down for 1 day
I would have spent several days to diagnose and then had to order parts which would taken days to deliver.
So, all-in-all, I still would make the same decision
