Hello, I just bought a 2006 V70. I noticed a switch next to the fog light switch, consulted the manual and sure enough it's the rear fog light switch. Interesting, I push thew button, and no additional exterior lights illuminate. What am I missing, or where should I be looking. I've always owned Volkwagen so, re-learning.
Thanks!
Thanks!

According to the manual "to be used in excessive snow, fog or limited visibility situations"
To me, it says "It looks like I have a taillight out, please pull me over"
It reminds me off the little "passing" light that was behind the grill emblem on 1970's Subaru's. The grill emblem would flip up and there was a light behind it that would light up to warn the driver in front of you that you were about to pass.
I'm sure no one but another Subaru owner would realize what it was for...

The rear fog light is a good safety feature that Volvo's have had for some 20 years. The reason it's just on the drivers side is that it should not be confused with brake lights and it's closest to the middle of the street. If you are following behind the car you will plainly see when the driver applies the brakes (so don't go adding a rear fog to the other side). Whenever you are driving in reduced visibility, you will want the person behind you to see you as soon as possible.
Another safety feature that Volvo's have had for years that many others still do not is the seat belt retractor. If you get into an accident, the seat belt will actually pull you back into the seat, most just lock up stopping you from going forward. We all know that the best place for you to be is firmly back in your seat in case of an accident.
