Hello everyone, Im new to volvo's and to the Forum. Recently bought a 01 V70 XC 2.4t. It's in excellent/mint shape, has 140,000km. I've had it since about February, haven't been able to turn the stability/traction control off. The button is lit but whether I press or hold it, wont turn off.
Any body els have this issue? Is there something I'm missing?
Thanks,
Lee

i wouldent be to concerned a long as it functions ..but remember the car is 12 years old and many people could have fiddled with it...this button ties in with the transmission function so my bet would be.....past trans repair or sensor replace..
does all other function on dash preform as they should???????? and have you tried to disconnect the negative battery cable to maybe reset the system ....if you try this method be sure to put the ignition key in position II before you reconnect the negative cable to the battery.....its worth a try to maybe re-connect the system to each other

see, I'm not sure if is working. I know the AWD works, my tech verified that. But when I drove it through the snow around corners, it feels completely like a FWD vehicle, just understeers right for the curb.
First time I drove it, I was expecting it to drive like other 4x4 or AWD cars that I've driven, with control through the corners, but as soon as the front wheels broke loose, I lost all control. My RWD 740i dove better around snowy corners than my V70 XC.
So I'm thinking the DTC isnt transfering the power apropriatly to the other wheels. Am I right about this or is this just how AWD Volvo's handle?

sounds if its maybe ?...... a power weight transfer system problem.. ..when my volvo looses traction the stc light flickers..... you can turn off the traction control ....but on AWD car YOU CAN NOT turn off the DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL. .... i can't say much about the feel...... if any fault codes come up pull them right away....so in the end its maybe a different feel and drive than a bmw or other AWD's
