V70t p0342
02 Volvo V70 Turbo. Check engine light is on. I'm getting a code for a camshaft position sensor (P0342). Sometimes it takes the car a few times to crank, otherwise it runs flawlessly. Seems like an CSPS issue but I would like to know for sure before I go throwing parts at it. Is there any way to further troubleshoot this issue?

I replaced the Camshaft position sensor; made no difference. I also pulled out the crankshaft position sensor and it looks new. Wiring looks good.
I hooked up my scam tool and looking at the real time @ idle, the SparkAdv was at 11°. Shouldn't this be around 15°? Leading me to believe that it may be off a tooth. Any thoughts? |
Bump..
|
Any advice on this??
|
sounds like timing might be slightly off...was any work done prior to the code appearing?
|
The code was there when I bought the vehicle. I'm going to check to see if all timing marks line up.

Timing is not off. It revs up as it should and drives fine. Every once in a while it will have a surge at idle. But it still has trouble starting. Any suggestions?
