Volvo Electrical Problem

Folks-

II have spilled a Diet Coke in the gear shifter of my 2002 Volvo V70. Since that time, the car has had problems starting, and the Fan/Air Conditioner will not turn off. The car is still drivable, but needs a jump every time. I have replaced the battery on the off chance it was why the car was acting squirrelly.

I have taken off the shifter cover (the knob won’t come out for some reason) and there doesn’t seem to be any liquid inside. All fuses are intact as well.

I could use some help, to say the least. Right now the car is attached to a battery charger, but it’s only so effective. I’ve been

the soda could have left some residues that are shorting out the wiring so a solid cleaning is due or you may have some corrosion (Coke is acidic - it can be used to take paint off things like golf club heads!). I had a friend who's battery kept dying and it turned out there was an orange peel in the lighter socket! The shifter knob should pull straight up and off.

Ok, so the knob is out. Is there a video or step by step anyone could recommend for cleaning this sucker out? I’ve replaced the CCM at this point and the blower still won’t turn off.

take a look at some vids for replacing the PNP switch. that's probably what's shorting.
