'12 XC70 Reduce Engine Performance Msg
I drive a '12 XC70, 301K, when I went out to start the car after work and it wouldn't turn over and had the 'reduce engine performance' message on dash (first time seeing this message). Tried starting it for about 10-15 mins with no success! I've reviewed other forums on here; no recent posts so curious if anyone has any suggestions on where I should look first to get me back on the road?! Thanks

Same response to your other post. Reduced Engine Performance warnings is the computer's way of keeping you from doing serious damage to the engine when a problem has been detected. There will be stored diagnostic fault codes that will tell what triggered the warning. Sometimes its something simple like misfires caused by a bad coil or an intake air leak but considering your no start, I'd be inclined to think it may be fuel pressure or perhaps a crank sensor. In any case, next step is to scan for fault codes. You can buy a $30 OBD2 reader at Harbor Freight, rent (often for free) a reader from Autozone etc or if you are not that handy, book an appointment with your dealer or Volvo friendly indy. PS - if you do read the codes on your own and don't have the skills to repair, don't bother to erase them - leave them for your pro to look at. If you want to get a sense of what to expect, post up the fault codes (they will typically read out like P0301 etc) and you'd get some insights.

Hello friend, in my 2005 xc70 I changed my headlights for LED ones, AND LOW BEAM FAILURE APPEARED, that didn't affect me so much except that there was something on the screen, after a while, I began to experience a small lack of power in my car. performance, which I attributed to lack of maintenance, after some 3 months the service engine required message appeared, then one day it showed a failure message in the parking assistance after anti skid failure, until finally the odious reduce engine message appeared performance, which was accompanied by a considerable loss of power, and no response in the accelerator pedal while pressing the brake, at first I turned it off and turned it on again and it disappeared, well if something similar is happening to you and you used your scanner obdII and you found a fault in the acceleration pedal sensor, brake pedal, and in the ECM temperature fan, I told you that, I usually had the lights on so that when I opened the key and started the engine the lights would come on, well I discovered that the power reduction did not appear if I did not turn on the lights, because what made my car work well again was changing the location of the low LED lights, that is, I moved the left one to the right and vice versa. This fixed the problem, it made me struggle a lot, I changed the pedal sensor, the brake pedal position sensor, I bought a new ETM, the VOLVO VIDA DICE, software, etc., etc., today, Saturday, June 29, 2024, I took the task of I changed the bulbs on the side and the problem was solved, I think that the Volvo EMC is not capable of working with LED head lights, but I think that there must be some high-end LED head lights on the market that do not cause this type of problem .
Well friends, this is my first contribution, I hope that if anyone had a similar problem this information will be useful to them. Greetings from Ensenada Baja Mexico. |
