2001 XC70 traction control?
Hey, very new to Volvos, nice to meet you all.
I’ve lost my head since I can’t seek to find any way to turn off traction control on my 01 XC70. Many posts have suggested I press a button under the climate control (the button is non existent on my vehicle), others have suggested I use the menu and look for the setting. I do have the capability to scroll through the menu, but all I see there is my fuel consumption and average speed, nothing even remotely close to traction related things. Could it be that it’s just not possible to turn off traction control on my car? If so, what was the thought process behind having an AWD allroad vehicle without the ability to turn off traction? |

The 98-02 awd Volvos uses a viscous couplng to make the rears spin as part of the "AWD" system. Traction control allegedly can use the drive by wire throttle (or cars so equipped) and possibly the abs system to slow or brake a wildly spinning wheel (with little or no traction) The viscous coupling does send some power to the rear wheels - but not much really. Don't count on your 01 to be a capable AWD vehicle. |
