2003 XC70 key fob and module issue
Hi, I have a 2003 XC70 with 224,000km on it. A couple of weeks ago, the key fob slowly quit working. Of course, I replace the fob battery with no success, it still wouldn't work.
I talked to the dealer (a three hour drive away) and they told me they had a new fob in stock and it would just need to be programed. I was in the city yesterday and went to the dealer--they couldn't program the new fob. My car kept giving them an error message; they think there is a module that isn't working and that's what's causing the problem with programming the fob. I had another appointment to go to so they couldn't keep the car for long and they couldn't resolve the problem within the 2.5 hours I was there. Does anyone have experience with this? Is this a module that is going to stop my car cold? How big a deal is it to get to the bottom of the issue? Tough questions, but I need some ideas here... Thanks in advance, Kathleen:( |
There is a receiver for the key fob and I believe that it is part of the rearview mirror assembly.
If it is the rearview mirror assembly, it is a programmable part and my guess is that you are going to spend close to $1,000 to make it work. |
