Recently bought a 2007 Volvo xc70, with 155,000 mi on the clock.

So the problem starts after you're driving it for more than 40 minutes the car will start having problems shifting downshifting or just go out of gear.

But that only happens when your eater going up a hill at a fast speed or going down a hill around 60 mph.

Started driving downhill it would shift into third gear, after third gear there was total loss of transmission it would not respond as I was driving so I ended up pulling over. After I pulled over the car shuttered like crazy acting like it was stuck in gear even after I put it in park and neutral. After turning off the car and turning it back on, when you would go to put it in gear or drive The car would shake like crazy and then act like there was no transmission. I ended up turning off for about a half an hour, while we figured out the situation. After we figured out where we were going I was able to get the car in gear but it was still having issues shaking, not going into any gear above third.


Now I do know these cars do have transmission problems, when I bought it I did do a transmission flush but I'm still having this problem even after the flush.

I also have no transmission codes and no codes at all, The car overall is pretty clean and pretty good shape so I'm just a little confused.

 

Yes - You have discovered why the car was for sale, sorry. You are describing what commonly happens to these transmissions.

A Valve body MIGHT fix it - but that's your ~$2000 call. If not a replacement transmission and a TCM reload MIGHT fix it.
