Hi guys!
I would like to know where i can check transmission fluid level in my volvo (automatic of course). Is there any dipstick or something? I know in older models there was such thing (yellow dipstick, very hard to find). I cant find it under my hood so maybe You know something about it.

The 6-spd auto transmission (Aisin AW TF-80 SC) does not have a dipstick. The level is adjusted by an overflow hole in the transmission housing. But you have to know the procedure.

 

Do you know the procedure? Check while idling or not?

 

I have not tried to check the ATF level on my wife's 2007 XC90 with the 6-spd automatic. I have seen references to the procedure, but don't have a copy. If I were you I would leave it alone unless you have good reason to think it is low. I think there is an electronic low ATF warning which comes up if it gets low.

Note that this transmission takes a specific type of ATF. If the wrong ATF is put in, then the transmission can be ruined.
