service lamp 01 XC what dies it mean?
01 XC 130k miles and last week the word "Ser
vice" in orange apeared on the right side of cluster! All is working fine and am wondering how many things this might mean? I'm divorcing the dealer as my bud the service mgr just quit and moved to FLA! Plan to use our local foreign car mechanic but prefer to go in armed with info. cheers ADT Belen NM |
It just means you need to service your car. Its pretty much telling you to change the oil.

Yeah stop over reacting. I bet it wasn't on when you got the oil change done and they forgot to reset it.

like the time they actually forgot the oil that i payed for or the time they said I need brakes right after i had brakes put on the visit bfr. im done with them and will start using a local guy that i can drop er off and bring the train home. how does one reset that light? |
Independent shops never, ever make mistakes and never, ever recommend unnecessary work.
I'd bet the selling of the brakes was the advisor going off previously recommended work without checking the service history. It would take a ballsy mechanic to try something like that. |
