Have been shopping around to upgrade from my 2004 XC70 to a 2007 XC70, under the impression that after 2007, the ensuing years were not the same level of quality. I have run into an estate sale selling a 2008 and I realize I was basing this assumption on rumor and ignorance. Can anyone add thoughts on any truth to these rumors and/or specifically how the 2008 stacks up against the 2007 and earlier model years?

The 2008 is a Fjord (ford EUCD platform)

Not sure they are more problematic, more so than different.

 

2008 uses the fomoco/volvo/land rover inline 3 liter 6. An ok engine - but the turbo version was not available in that year, Much more exiting if you can afford the t6 in later years. Reliable engine with it's own unique set of problems due to the READ (rear engine accessory drive). Does have the more reliable transmission (IMHO) than a 2007.
