740 stalls while braking
Hi, I'm new to this forum and came for an advice, my car has developed a strange problem - it would stall almost every other time when I hit my brakes.</P>
Can it be electrical, I would assume so, because engine runs just fine and idles in "park"?</P>
any input would be appreciated</P>

I want to help you solve your problem BUT I need to know what year and model car that you have. Is it an automatic or manual. Turbo or Non Turbo?</P>
This could be a number of problems but I will have you look at the two that are the most likely. Check all of your vacuum lines and make sure that they are all connected and are NOT rotten or cracked! I found 4 cracked lines on my 760 just today. I pinch off each hose to see if makes a diference in the way the engine runs. If you pinch off a line and the engine smooths out, it could be split or lealing on the other end. The other item that effects the way the vehicle idles is the Idle AirMotor. Before I have you mess with that I have to know what year and modle car you have.</P>

I've had the same problem with an 86'. I had a alot of power running to my stereo at the time, but found it to be simply the altenator belt, so I'd check the tension on your belt. If that seems fine go to your nearest auto parts retailer and have your altenator/battery checked.<edited><editID>r0bwag0n</editID><editDate>38014.6421875</editDate></edited>
