fuel pump
I have a 1989 740GL station wagon. recently had a new water pump, fuel pressure regulator and valve cover gasket replaced. It was running so bad. Run fine for about 500 miles and then died on me and will not start again. took off fuel pump and changed fuel filter and checked out pump and it was pumping ok. Connected it all back up and it still won't crank. Went by a Haynes manuel and checked out fuses. checked ok. The fuel pump relay clicks like it is working. but I tested wires going to fuel pump there is not any electricity coming through. Now I am stumped and don't know where to go. Any suggestions??
Will it not crank or not start? Is there spark? Have you checked the Mas air flow meter? Unplug it and see if it starts.

The relay does both the fuel pump and the fuel injection. It could still be bad. I would look into it more but I'm going off the top of my head because someone has borrowed and not returned my bentley bible. I know this book if for the 240 but the motors are similar and so is the fuel injection

Good luck
